“Zhulhany Airport” is the second airport of Kiev. In 2013 it was recognized as the second airport-millionaire after Borispil. The first flight took place in 1924, from Kharkiv to Kiev. Airport is developing rapidly, what confirms by the fact that the passenger traffic of first seven months of 2013 increased by 155%. During this period the airport served 1 million and 20 thousand passengers. Today the airport serves domestic and international flight to various destinations of near and far abroad.
The airstrip of “Zhulhany” was extended. Now it’s’ length is 2310 m and width is 45 m. This airstrip allows receiving medium-range aircrafts Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. A new international terminal A was built and put in use in 2012. The capacity of it is 500 passengers per hour.
In “Zhulhany Airport” is situated the biggest aviation open-air museum, where a big variety of examples of civil and military aircrafts are presented.
The main airlines that use the airport for their flights are: Air one, Air Onix, Aegean Airlines, Wizz Air, U-Tair and U-Tair Ukraine and Transaero. From September 2013 a new low-cost airline flydubai will start flights to “Zhulhany”.
