Shortly about Simferopol Airport
Simferopol airport is one of three biggest airports of Ukraine according to the passenger traffic. Airport is situated about 12 km from the capital of Autonomous Republic of Crimea. It serves the whole peninsula.
Airport was found in 1936. That year the regular flights Simferopol-Moscow were started. A concrete landing strip was built in 1960. This strip allowed receiving aircrafts day and night and in severe weather conditions. The second landing strip was put in use in 1984. The first strip was taken out of service, and the second one is working till today. It length is 3700 m, and width is 60 m.
There are several working terminals in the airport: A – for international and domestic flights arrival; B – for international flights departure; c – for domestic flights departure; D – business (VIP) hall. The capacity of terminals is about 750 passengers per hour.
The highest passenger traffic was fixed in 1990 – 5 mln passengers used the airport. Last years there are about 1 mln of passengers annually.
